Blackjack Rules
In the game of blackjack there are two object is to get closer to a sum of 21 then the dealer or in may cases not BUST by have your hand value go over 21 and hope the dealer does BUST. If you bust out there is no chances that you will win that hand of blackjack. If you have not busted not matter how small of value you hand is there is still the possibility that you can win by the dealer busting.
Okay let's start with some basics. Every card 2-9 is equal to it's face value. Cards 10-K are all equal to 10. The only card that every changes in value is the Ace it can be equal to 1 or 11. For example if you had a 9 and an Ace you would have a hand worth 9 + 11 = 20 if you wanted another card and you got another Ace you now would have 9 + 11 + 1 = 21. I do not suggest you try this I am only using this as an example.
Now that we have the basic blackjack card values down let's look at the order of play in Blackjack. The dealer will shuffle the cards this could be one deck to eight decks. If more then one deck of cards is being used the cards will be placed in a shoe. (a small shoe box like box) The blackjack dealer then will burn the bottom card by placing it directly into the discard pile. Then the dealer will give each player a card face up, themselves one card face up and each player one more card face up. (NOTE to you poker players do not touch your cards. Blackjack is not like poker in that you can not touch your cards. Yes, Vegas does still offer a few blackjack games where the players can touch the cards but for the most part it is hands off or out of the casino you go) Then starting with the player to the dealer's left will ask if they want another card and will continue until that player says they have enough or goes over 21. If the player's hand at any time is equal to more then 21 the dealer with then take the cards and place them in the discard pile.
Once every blackjack player has had the opportunity to to improve their hand the dealer will start to take cards. Once the dealer has 17 (casinos are all a little different on this point be sure you know before you being playing)or more they must stop taking cards. At this time the dealer will start with the player on their left that still has cards if the players hand is larger then the dealer the dealer will pay them one times their bet. If it is equal it is a push in most casinos nothing happens but once again check this out some casinos pay the player and some will even take the players bet. If the players hand is less then the dealers the dealer will take the bet and cards and not pay the player anything.
The one time that you can get more then one times your bet back is when you get a natural blackjack. That is your hand adds up to 21 with your first two cards for example any face card and an ace would be a natural blackjack. Provided that dealer does not also get a blackjack you will get paid 1.5 times your bet.So if you had bet $10 you would get paid $15.00
