One of the major advantages you have playing Texas Hold'em poker over other casino games is that you always have relevant information available to you. You can use this to decide if you are willing to risk some of your hard earned bankroll. You have two valuable pieces of information each and everytime you play a hand of online Texas Hold'em poker. Your position on the table in realationship to the dealer's button and what your two pocket cards (the first to cards dealt to you) are.
In Low Limit Texas Hold'em poker, your position in relation to the dealer's button is very important in every decision you make. The reason for this is the more people that are forced to take action before you - the more information you have to make the best decision with your own hand. Each person that checks, bets, folds, or raises has told you something about their hand. As a result you have more opportunity to win with hands that are not as strong, when you are closer to being in the dealer's position.
We will divide the table of ten poker players into three sections. The first section includes the first three poker players to the left of the dealer's button. If you are one of the first three poker players to have to act we say you are in an "early position". The second section is the "middle position", this includes the next four players. The third section is the dealer and the two players to his right. These three players make up the "late position". (see the diagram below)
Now that we have established what the three different positions are we can take a look at the profitable hands. (For fewer then ten players you can check out the link to the estimated value.) These are the only hands that you should be willing to risk some of your bank roll on. There are 169 possible Texas Hold'em poker starting hands that you can and will be dealt. You may find the following list to be too restrictive and think that you will never get to play a hand. Just remember that these hands - and only these hands, can be played for a profit in the long run. Your goal should be not just to play, but to win! If you're not looking for a win and you just want to pass time play checkers....
In the early positon (the first three seats to the left of the dealer's button), the only cards you should play are: non-suited - AA, KK, QQ, AK, AQ, and suited - AK, AQ.
For the middle position (the middle four poker players), the list is a little longer. In this position some people have already acted and you have less of a chance of being raised so you can profitably play weaker hands so all of the above can be played plus: non-suited - JJ, TT, 99, 88, AJ, AT, A9, KQ, KJ, QJ, QT, and suited AJ, AT, A9, KQ, KJ, KT, QJ, QT.
In the lat position (the dealer and the two players to his right) we have the most hand we can play all of the above plus: non-suited- 77, 66, 55, 44, 33, 22, K9, Q9, JT and suited A8, A7, A6, A5, A4, A3, A2, KT, K9, Q9, Q8, JT, J9, T9, 98,
Remember that this is not a list of "SURE" winners even pocket Ace can and will be beaten but in the long run they will make you money. This list is just intended to help you play more profitable in the long run. There is not list that will work to make you win everytime.
